STORYTELLER OF THE SOUL

Simmer Bhatia is a filmmaker, screenwriter, and counsellor whose body of work is a powerful fusion of deep emotional insight, real-life experiences, and soul-stirring storytelling. With no formal training in cinema, she followed her instincts, from an early passion for acting and dramatics to becoming a bold and intuitive voice in independent filmmaking.

Her cinematic journey began with The Conversations… A Journey to Path to Origin, adapted from a chapter in her book. What followed was a string of compelling short films across diverse genres, from the poignant It’s A Girl, addressing female foeticide, to the supernatural thriller Night Encounters, drawn from her own extrasensory experiences.

Her fourth film DENIAL, rooted in her real-life journey and counselling expertise, was officially selected and released by the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) on their YouTube platform. It also received a Letter of Recommendation from DPIFF’s jury, acknowledging the film’s creative impact and storytelling depth. In 2025, Simmer was also honoured with the Screenplay Writers Award, a testament to her growing contribution to Indian cinema.

Her stories reflect her identity as a traveler, healer, and seeker, as seen in her travel-inspired short PRAVAAH – The Flow. Simmer thrives on crafting cinema that’s both meaningful and entertaining, whether she’s exploring the paranormal, romance, or the human psyche. Her films are always personal, raw, and rooted in truth, often laced with a deeper message.

To her, cinema isn’t just storytelling. It’s soul work, a medium to inspire change, trigger healing, and raise awareness
